On December 7th, 2024, I drove out to a local wetlands before dawn. I knew it would rain, but not expecting as much as it did. I tested out the water resistance on my camera and lens, which held up well against the elements. I also tested the focal range of 1200mm between my telephoto lens and the teleconverter. The two Eagles were atleast 150 yards away, only about 1 inch can be seen with the human eye. It's amazing what good quality cameras and lenses are capable of today!

I stood with my camera and lens on a tripod with only manual focus set on one eagle, waiting for about 40 minutes before anything exciting happened. Then out of nowhere, a larger male bald eagle flew in to claim his tree, as the female flew off to the tree right next to it. That is when I decided to title this photo Territorial (Reign) Rain. Like humans, animals have their favorite resting locations they will protect and fight for.

Once I saw the larger male eagle fly into the frame, I took many sequence shots at a high shutter speed of 1/8000 of a second at 30 frames per second, to ensure the highest quality possible, while dealing with rain, low light and hazy conditions. The photo you see, was the most powerful representation of territory and dominance among eagles, which suited the title best out of all of them. This would make a stunning photo for in someone's home who appreciates eagles and photographic Art.
