On December 13th 2024, I decided to visit the Oregon coast to take some photos and video of the King Tides. I decided to capture as many images as I can of the Tillimook Light house off in the distance. This image you see consists of one still frame taken from a high quality video, capturing the perfect moment of a curling wave in the foreground of the Tillimook lighthouse, while a giant wave crashed on the rocks below. I took the liberty and creativity to not only develop the day time shot that I took, but also turn it into a late afternoon sunset scene. Both images took a lot of care and detail in processing for a beautiful image. I really like how both of them turned out, so I have decided to combine the two as one. It can be printed as a split image like you see in this preview, or you can have it printed as a Lenticular split image, so you can see both images from different angles. This will be the first time I ever printed a Lenticular split image, which will look amazing from any standpoint in any home of those who have great appreciation for the ocean and it's power.
Side story: When I got my first waterproof camera in 1992 for Christmas, some time later, I decided to take some photos of the waves during sunset in La Jolla, California. I wore a wetsuit and fins that evening, while taking photos wading in the water chest deep. In a matter of seconds, I was pulled further out inside a rip current that I was unaware of. After getting my shots, I tried swimming back in for a good 15 to 20 minutes without much progress. I tried every swimming technique, except swim off to the side outside of the rip current. As I got completly exhausted staying afloat, as one last act of desperation, I said a quick prayer asking God that if he helps me get out of this predicament, I promise to never swim in the ocean without a boogieboard or a surfboard ever again. Seconds later, my eyes caught the view of a life gaurd swimming out to help guide me out of the rip current and back to shore. It was apparent that several onlookers notified a nearby lifeguard minutes earlier and he had already been swimming toward me to guide me out of the rip current. I was thinking the whole time, that the next wave swell would eventually push me into shore, but the undertow was just too strong. That day, that man was my "Light of Hope", one I'll never forget and I'm eternally grateful for.
This image I took is a reminder to me and anyone, no matter how much you struggle in life, no matter how little progress you make and think you'll never achieve your goal, there's always a Light of Hope. |
