On January 1st 2025, I decided to ring in the New Year by venturing out to new areas to film and photograph birds. I first went to one of my favorite locations in Washington to film and photograph eagles, but the annual migration in the masses have not showed up yet. I did take some photos of one eagle there. Next stop was at a location I never been to before in North West Oregon, there I captured some amazing sequence shots of a 'Whispering Swan'. I filmed a bunch of them congregated together as well. I had all of the settings correct, the auto focus was solid and sharp on this particular Swan and by luck of the draw, this swan was facing me as it stretched and flapped it's wings on the water. I couldn't have been happier of how well it turned out.

The original image turned out so well, I almost considered not adding any editing, except like most Raw images that come with a little bit of image noise, it needed to be cleaned up a bit. I also made the water closer to what it's original color was when I was there in person. When taking photos of birds with bright white feathers, the exposure needs to be turned way down on the camera, so the whites don't get blown out. As a result, everything else around them turns extra dark. So going back into editing the photo, some of the foreground and background details and tone need to be brought back to it's original state.

Anyone who loves Swan, this would make a stunning piece in their home or business. I'm considering using some of the other images I took of it in sequence and turning it into a lenticular image.
